What I do

In my capacity as assistant editor at the Virginia Quarterly Review, I have worked primarily on short fiction and essays, helping writers sharpen ideas, refine pacing, and finesse characterization. My experience evaluating and editing work for a literary quarterly has given me an understanding of writers’ paths of growth, especially at the beginning of a career. I am poised at the intersection of creative and academic writing, passionate about accessible scholarship and intellectually rigorous creative work. I have experience in and can offer help with:

· Market research

· Developmental editing/“big picture" concerns

· Fact-checking

· Line editing

· Proofreading
